Solar

The basic principle behind photovoltaic (PV) technology is that solar modules mounted outside, generate electricity from the sun’s light as opposed to the suns heat, converting radiant energy into an electrical current. If you have ever seen a solar calculator you have seen PV in action. This electricity can be used either to charge batteries, as in ’stand alone systems’ or by connecting a number of solar modules (known as an array) into a piece of equipment called an inverter, the system can be to be directly connected into the mains supply of the property as a renewable electrical energy source. Obelisk Energy offers a full design service to analyse the requirements and recommend the most efficient and cost effective solutions for you application.

Advantages

  • PV is a mature, tried, trusted, reliable and robust technology.
  • PV has no moving parts and requires virtually no maintenance.
  • PV is quick and easy to install.
  • PV systems are modular and can be of any size.
  • PV modules can be recycled.
  • PV does add value to building where it is installed.
  • PV generates more energy that it consumes.
  • PV reduces pollution and reduces emissions of greenhouse gases.
  • Stand-alone PV systems can be used anywhere.
